Focus on Job Families: Dental

10 April, 2025

There are a wide range of apprenticeships available in areas such as Dental, Nursing, Healthcare Science and more. In the coming weeks we will be highlighting different areas to show the fantastic apprenticeships that are available. This week on ‘Focus on Job Families’, we will be focusing on dental.

Apprenticeships give employers the opportunity to recruit fresh new talent as well as recruit and train individuals from the local area. They also create the opportunity for career progression for existing staff.

There are a variety of roles in the Dental sector. Providing dental care is a team responsibility, and each member of the dental team has a vital role to play in the promotion and maintenance of oral health.

The dental team is made up of the following professions all of which are registered with the General Dental Council. Dentists, dental nurses, dental hygienists, dental therapists, orthodontic therapists, dental technicians and clinical dental technicians.

Our Apprenticeship Standards Factsheet shows what apprenticeship standards are approved for delivery in this area.
