The Level 5 Assistant Practitioner (Health) apprenticeship standard has been approved for delivery since 19th May 2016 and a revised version was published on 5th August 2022.
Assistant Practitioners work alongside registered healthcare professionals in providing high quality and person-centred compassionate healthcare and support to individuals. On a daily basis, Assistant Practitioners will assist registered healthcare professionals in total patient assessment, and in the coordination of care (including referrals to other practitioners) as well as undertaking clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic activities according to local population and service needs
There are currently 68 registered training providers for this standard. However, all new apprentices will start on the new integrated apprenticeship where the training provider and EPAO (End Point Assessment Organisation) will be a university or HEI (Higher Education Institution) with degree awarding powers.
