Apprenticeships and Midwifery

6 May, 2024

Mega phone on a blue background - tell everyone about apprenticeships and midwifery. International Day of the Midwife was on Sunday 5th May 2024.

Midwifery Degree Apprenticeships provide another route into becoming a midwife.

Apprenticeships in maternity services are available in England for maternity support workers (MSWs).

Have a look at what the Royal College of Midwives are saying and hear from the educators and midwives who supported the first cohort of apprentices.

Check out HASO’s Midwifery page to discover what apprenticeships are available in this area as well as other useful resources.

NHS Employers have published a news item and resources about Midwives here.

We have also previously spoken with Gloria Rowland, Barts Health NHS Trust and Sally Ashton-May, NHS England who are joint chairs of the Midwife Apprenticeship Trailblazer group. Have a read of what they had to say here.

You can also access the Level 6 Midwife (Degree) (NMC 2019) apprenticeship standard here.
