Generic microphone image to show important alert for information on Safeguarding Support Officer apprenticeship standard. The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education has now approved the Level 3 Safeguarding Support Officer apprenticeship standard.

Safeguarding Support Officers work in a range of public, private, and voluntary sector organisations to support statutory safeguarding responsibilities to be fulfilled and demonstrate how organisations work to protect an individual’s health, wellbeing and human rights; enabling individuals to live free from harm, abuse and neglect.

They interact with staff and volunteers in their organisation, service users and members of the public as the first point of contact for raising safeguarding concerns. Safeguarding support officers also interact externally with investigative statutory agencies. A safeguarding support officer reports into the designated lead for safeguarding within their organisation.

Following the launch of this apprenticeship Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Integrated Care System (ICS) are creating a pool of senior safeguarding leads and senior education leads who would like to be an End Point Assessor for this apprenticeship. They are holding a Q&A Panel meeting on 14th January (12:00 – 13:00). If you would like to attend or would like further information, please contact rebecca.cooke@nhs.net.

The funding band is £7,000

Employers, training providers and apprentice assessment organisations can now prepare for delivery of the apprenticeship.
