It’s National Apprenticeship Week 2018, which means a great opportunity to highlight the broad range of apprenticeship opportunities available across the NHS and to celebrate all that it has to offer as an employer.
Alongside local employer activity, Health Education England is running a national social media campaign to promote the NHS as an employer of choice and to raise awareness of the wide range of apprenticeship opportunities that are available. There is a particular focus this year on raising the profile of and sharing the stories of disabled apprentices, as part of a broader drive to increase the number of individuals with disabilities accessing apprenticeships across the NHS.
Employers are encouraged to join the social media conversation during the week and share why apprenticeships work for them alongside individual apprentices’ stories. Look out for activity via the @HealthCareersUK Twitter account and follow along with #NHS, #NHSCareers, #HealthCareers, #NHSapprentice, #NHSapprenticeship, #BecomeAnNHSApprentice, #NAW2018 and #worksforme.

- The National Apprenticeship Service’s portal, full of resources and ways to support National Apprenticeship Week, including a downloadable graphic to let everyone know you’re getting involved
- Health Education England’s range of customisable resources that can be used to promote your apprenticeship programmes or vacancies, including posters, banners, case studies, social media graphics and much more
- New real-life stories being added to the Health Careers webpages
- Commissioned by Health Education England, a new diagnostic tool has been developed by NHS Employers to help you identify how your workforce compares to the local community, with a suite of accompanying information and guidance to support you to engage with different community groups as part of your workforce supply strategy
