International Qualifications

Individual comparing data from a tablet to data on a paper document. ENIC is the UK National Information Centre for the recognition and evaluation of international qualifications and skills.

The NHS England National Talent for Care team have funded licences for UK ENIC to support the NHS and Apprenticeship Leads.

This allows employers to compare overseas qualifications to UK equivalents. This process and the cost attached have long been cited as a barrier for widening participation in apprenticeships and traditional nursing and AHP (Allied Health Professions) degree programmes.

NHS Trusts in England can now register two staff per Trust who will be able to check staff member’s international certificate/s through ENIC. This is particularly important for overseas staff wishing to undertake apprenticeships and evidence if they have English and Maths at level 2 (GCSE A-C/9-4).

To register up to two members of staff to use the service please email england.nhsapprenticeships@nhs.net with the following details:

  • Trust name
  • Staff members name/s (you can register up to 2 users per Trust)
  • Staff members job title
  • Staff members email address
