The Department for Education (DFE) have published the latest figures for the first 9 months of the 2019/20 academic year (August 2019 to April 2020), the figures show:
- Apprenticeship starts reported to date are 271,900
- Proportion of starts on standards was 75% (203,800)
- Proportion of starts supported by ASA levy funds was 67% (182,200)
- The proportion of starts by level was:
o Intermediate level: 31.8% (86,400)
o Advanced level: 43.7% (118,800)
o Higher level: 24.5% (66,700) - The proportion of starts by age group was:
o 16-18: 25.7% (69,900)
o 19-24: 29.6%(80,500)
o 25 and over: 44.7% (121,400) - The number of apprenticeship starts reported to date for April was 9,000; in April 2019, the number reported at the same point was 23,200
