The Mammography Associate trailblazer group are pleased to announce that the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) have approved the revised apprenticeship standard for the Level 4 Mammography Associate.
This standard has been agreed for information only at present. It will replace the current version for new starts from 1st February 2024 with a funding band of £10,000.
Mammography Associates work within the breast imaging workforce undertaking routine two-view mammography. They work in a multi-disciplinary team within a hospital or in a community setting (e.g. mobile breast screening units, medical centres), undertaking mammography of individuals as part of a breast screening programme. They have a good understanding of breast anatomy, physiology and pathology, including clinical signs and symptoms of breast cancer, and are able to apply knowledge of ionising radiation regulations.
