The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) are currently reviewing the Standards of Proficiency for Registered Midwives and is due to publish the new standards in 2020. Information on this review can be seen here.
In view of this and the lead in time needed to develop an apprenticeship standard for Registered Midwife, it has been agreed by Health Education England, the Royal College of Midwives and Skills for Health to advise employers that development of an apprenticeship standard for registered Midwife should be on hold until the new NMC Standards of Proficiency are published.
