Ricardo was a finalist in the 2021 BAME Apprenticeship Awards in the Apprentice of the Year category. He attended the glamourous awards ceremony held at Edgbaston Cricket Ground in Birmingham on Thursday 30th September.
His journey is truly inspirational. Ricardo from Brazil only learnt English at 40 and is now a Registered Nurse Apprentice at Great Ormond Street. He started his career in the NHS as a domestic then progressed to Housekeeping before becoming a Healthcare Support Worker. All these roles helped to prepare him to become a Nursing Associate and he is now completing his nursing degree top up via the apprenticeship route.
The competition in his category was very tough and sadly he wasn’t a winner on the night but he is certainly a winner in the eyes of all his colleagues and managers at GOSH and a fantastic example of career progression via apprenticeships.
Well done Ricardo!
