The standard for Healthcare Science Practitioner (Degree) has been approved for delivery since 31st March 2017.
Healthcare Science Practitioners use expertise in applied scientific techniques to deliver patient sensitive and quality assured tests, investigations and procedures (in some cases, including specialist therapeutic interventions) on samples, patients and equipment. They are responsible for the analysis of a wide range of diagnostic tests that contribute to the clinical assessment of patients for the presence of disease, the monitoring of health and the effectiveness of treatments.
As part of their apprenticeship, apprentices will have to complete end point assessment. There are currently 17 End Point Assessment Organisations (EPAO) registered to assess Healthcare Science Practitioner (Degree) apprentices.
