The Therapeutic Radiographer Trailblazer is delighted to announce that the apprenticeship standard for Therapeutic Radiographer has been approved for delivery by the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education and allocated a maximum funding of £19,000.
The approved Standard and Assessment plan can be found here.
Employers, training providers and apprentice assessment organisations can now prepare for delivery of the apprenticeship.
Baz (Hazel) Roger (Head of Radiotherapy – Leeds Cancer Centre)
Chair of the Trailblazer Group
“The development of a Therapeutic Radiographer apprenticeship is critical as the profession is deemed ‘at risk’ due to recruitment issues. Therapeutic Radiographers play a vital role in the treatment of cancer and it is extremely important to offer new and innovative models of training, such as apprenticeships, to expand the growth of the workforce. This apprenticeship has been developed by a multi professional group including employers, HEI representatives, Skills for Health, College of Radiographers, HCPC, and Health Education England. Although the process is employer led there is no doubt we would not have achieved this without the input and support from Skills for Health (SfH). I want to thank everyone who gave up their time to work on or with the trailblazer group in any capacity and we look forward expanding the workforce for the future.”
