Radiography

Radiographer is a profession regulated by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). The HCPC sets out the standards of proficiency which every Radiographer must meet in order to become registered.

Radiography is one of the most innovative aspects of healthcare. Professionals can use advanced technology to look inside patients’ bodies and understand the root cause of the illness, which, after consultation and examination, they can then treat. Using radiotherapy then can be a source of hope and care for those diagnosed with cancer. As a result a professional can create individual treatment plans which blend together technical expertise and emotional support with the goal of helping the patient.

Radiographers look after people who are unwell or in pain, and may be anxious or uncertain about what is going to happen. They use their wide range of skills and training to deliver a sensitive, patient-focused healthcare service in imaging and radiotherapy. Radiographers use high-tech, expensive equipment and are an important part of a large medical team.
