In 2020 IfATE (Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education) ran a consultation on a proposal to simplify and strengthen the EQA (External Quality Assurance) system.
It proposed moving from a system where many organisations deliver EQA, to one where two organisations deliver EQA. These would be Ofqual or, for integrated higher and degree apprenticeships, the Office for Students (OfS).
IfATE have now opened applications for the new employer directory to support apprenticeship external quality assurance (EQA).
This employer directory will enable Ofqual and Office for Students (OfS) to draw on industry expertise as they move to delivering EQA. this will keep employers at the heart of protecting quality in apprenticeships.
