We would like to invite you to take part in Health Education England’s annual Preparation for Work survey. The survey is open to all NHS organisations until 8th September 2019.

This annual survey gathers information Preparation for Work activity across the NHS for financial year 2018-19. This includes questions about employability programmes, work experience opportunities and work-related learning activity, as well as some general questions.
The survey enables us to gain a national picture of all that the NHS is doing and helps Health Education England know how to support you in the future. The results can also be used by you to benchmark yourselves against other NHS organisations and to discover examples of good practice. Your responses will help shape a new national strategy for Preparation for Work activity.
Results from the last three surveys have been widely used, showcasing the excellent work the NHS is doing in this area both within the healthcare system and to other industries. One of the primary barriers cited in last year’s survey was the lack of infrastructure resource available to support the delivery of Preparation for Work activity. As a result, Health Education England has this year made available some funding to increase capacity in this area. This is just one example of how your responses to this survey can help shape and inform national direction and funding decisions.
It is estimated that this survey will take approximately 20-30 minutes to complete. We recommend having information about your Preparation to Work activity available before starting to complete the survey, including if available your participant numbers and outcomes, host areas or departments and details of programmes, activity and partnerships.
All responses will be treated confidentially and not shared with any third party. Only anonymised findings will be published, unless express permission has been granted to share best practice.
