Overcoming Maths anxiety in Health and Social Care

Tuesday 20th October 2:00 – 3:30pm

Lead by Dr. Tom Hunt of Derby University, a specialist in Maths anxiety. He will introduce the general concept of maths anxiety, cover background information on how it is thought to develop and impact people, followed by a specific focus on healthcare professionals. The session will involve how it can be helped with intervention work and tailored to specific settings so that colleagues can aspire to meet their full career potential.

HEE’s commissioned self-study tool for functional skills (BKSB) – For new users

Wednesday 21st October 10:00 – 11:00am

Understand more about the functional skills self-study tool that HEE is commissioning this year and how to use it. Access to this is totally free and sign up is easy. Support your employees to progress with numeracy, literacy, and digital skills to achieve level 2 competence.

ESOL in Health and Social Care

Tuesday 3rd November 10:30-11:30am

Lead by Dr. Finbar Lillis from Middlesex University, this session will include: Examples of successful ESOL practice, an outline of the current government position on ESOL provision for those learning for / at work, an outline of ESOL guidance, information and resources available to healthcare employers or which might be adapted for use in the sector and discussion points on how to incorporate ESOL into HEE strategy. (This is a repeat of the session on August 11th, 2020, for those who were unable to make it).
