There are many other qualifications that satisfy the criteria of being equivalent to level 2 functional skills.

‘The purpose of functional skills qualifications in English, Maths and ICT is to provide:

  • reliable evidence of a student’s achievements against demanding content that is relevant to the workplace.
  • assessment of students’ underpinning knowledge as well as their ability to apply this in different contexts.’ (UK Government).
Functional Skills qualifications define:
  • which basic English, maths and ICT skills are to be assessed at different levels of achievement
  • how they are to be assessed and marked.

They are offered at different levels from Entry to Level 2 in the Regulated Qualifications Framework.
